Carolyn Ferraro Roush

SAVANNAH – Carolyn Ann Roush, a native of Savannah, passed away on March 9, 2011, at the age of 65 after a short illness. Carolyn attended Cathedral Day School, St. Vincent's Academy, and received a degree as a registered nurse from the St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She was an active communicant of St. James Catholic Church for nearly 40 years. She was happily married to Michael Wayne Roush, Sr., for forty-four years, and had three children, Michael, Jr., Elena, and Laura.
Carolyn was active in her community, serving in a number of charitable organizations. She served as a Cooking Angel, baking and making care packages for soldiers in the 3rd Infantry Division fighting abroad. She served in the Waving Girl Smocking Guild, making and donating newborn infant "we care" gowns for the families of still-born babies. She also served as president of the Alee Temple Oriental Band women's auxiliary, Ala Oba. Carolyn, with her husband, was responsible for creating the first Catholic Youth Organization CYO for the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent J. Ferraro, Sr. and Caroline Ferraro and her aunt Theresa Ferraro. She is survived by her husband, Michael W. Roush, her son, Michael, Jr., her daughter Elena Christine Koch and son-in-law Oliver Koch, her daughter Laura Katherine Garner and son-in-law Michael Garner, and the loves of her life, the four grandchildren, Joshua Michael Garner, Madison Renee Garner, Joseph Allen Garner, and Michael Wayne Roush III. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mildred Roush of Savannah, her brother, Vincent J. Ferraro, Jr. and his wife Helen Ferraro of Savannah, her husband's sister, Christianne Urbain of Hilton Head and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, March 11, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to one or more of the following charities: American Heart Association, The Arthritis Foundation, The Waving Girl Smocking Guild, or St. Vincent's Academy.
